The Jasmínový Sen kennel was founded in 1998 (FCI registration no. 735/98) out of pure love for the Yorkshire Terrier breed. What began as a single family pet grew over the years into a small, all the more devoted kennel in Trhové Dušníky near Příbram.

Today we have dozens of shows behind us, several beauty champions and, above all, many happy families with their new four-legged member. All of our breeding dogs are healthy, the females have at most one litter a year, and the puppies grow up with us in a family circle, not in a kennel run.

The puppy is microchipped, dewormed at least three times, used to dry kibble and vaccinated against distemper, infectious hepatitis, parvovirus and parainfluenza.
At handover you receive a purchase contract, a vaccination card, the vet’s litter-inspection report and a Purina Pro Plan Puppy starter pack.

The Yorkshire Terrier comes from England, where it was first entered into the Kennel Club’s stud book in 1886 — at the time it had no idea it would one day become one of the most beloved companions in the world. The Kennel Club is the top authority of the English canine world, but the breed itself arose long before anyone got around to registering it officially.
The story begins rather unexpectedly — with a hunting ban. From as early as the 11th century, commoners across almost all of England were barely allowed to hunt. To get around the ban, they kept only very small dogs that, by common opinion, didn’t look like hunters at all. But the royal gamekeepers weren’t fools: any dog they came across was subjected to a so-called size test — it had to pass through a hoop just 18 cm in diameter. Whoever fit through was “officially” just a pet and was allowed to stay with its owner.
Yet these little ones actually did more than was expected of them — they hunted rats and mice, and when the chance arose, they’d occasionally “accidentally” help themselves to a rabbit or other game. It was forbidden, of course, but who could hold it against such a little dog.
And so, over time, small, tenacious terriers were bred that broke no law and yet faithfully served their owners as true hunters.
General appearance. A lively, intelligent, brave and well-balanced toy terrier that clearly knows its own worth. It has a long coat parted from the nose to the tip of the tail and an upright carriage, as if it knew it is the ornament of any room. The body outline should suggest a strong body with proper proportions — small in height, big in confidence.
Weight. Up to 3.1 kg, ideally between 1800 and 2800 g. If a dog is to be used for breeding, it should not weigh less than 2000 g.
Height is not formally stated in the standard, but 20 to 24 cm at the withers is considered the ideal complement to the weight above.
The head is fairly small and flat, definitely not round like an apple — that is considered a fault in this breed. The medium-sized dark eyes should have an alert and intelligent expression, never bulging. The teeth meet in a scissor bite, a level (pincer) bite is also tolerated. Small “V”-shaped ears match the size of the dog — dropped or folded ears are not allowed by the standard.
The body is firm and short, but not square. A straight topline is just as important as good angulation of the hindquarters, which affects movement — in other words, even a small dog needs a solid “chassis”. The tail is carried richly coated, proudly above the line of the back.
The coat is what makes a Yorkie a Yorkie — its calling card and its pride. On the body it should be moderately long, on show dogs even floor-length, dense, smooth and glossy, with a silk-like texture — never wavy. In terms of colour, the most important is that noble steel-blue shade from the crown to the tip of the tail, which in sunlight must shine blue, without a single brownish or black hair. The head is adorned with a bright golden tan (light gold, not reddish-gold), darker at the roots than at the tips — and yes, even a Yorkie has its “fringe”: a long fall of hair on the head with the same rich tan. A slightly darker tan appears on the ears and muzzle, but it must never stray further down the neck or extend beyond the elbows and knees.
The only thing the standard is happy to fault a Yorkie for is a wavy coat — it looks dull, tends to be brownish and excessively bushy. Fortunately, that’s nothing that can’t be put right by good breeding and honest care.
